The Charlotte Bobcats and Detroit Pistons will meet Tuesday night in a matchup that both teams really need to win with them battling it out for the eighth seed in the East. It’s the second meeting between the teams, as the Bobcats won the last one 116-106 back in December.
The Bobcats have actually been a surprise team this season, winning four of their last seven games. Certainly not great, but some of those wins include Denver, Golden State and Dallas. In their last five games, they’re averaging 97.8 points and shooting 45.8 percent from the field, while holding their opponents to 95.6 points and 43.9 percent shooting. Their defense is top five in the league at the moment. They are 29-22-2 ATS overall and 16-9-2 ATS on the road.

The Pistons have won three of their last four games, but are coming off an embarrassing 93-89 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s been the story with them all season, losing to teams they shouldn’t. But in their last five matchups, they are averaging 106.6 points and allowing just 101.8 points. Both numbers are better than their season averages. They are 23-28-1 ATS overall and 12-16 ATS on their home court.
Usually you would give the home team a few points if the game is a toss-up, but Detroit is 12-16 SU on its home court. Needless to say, I don’t understand the line.
Charlotte is playing decent basketball as of late and actually plays defense, unlike the Pistons. The Bobcats are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a SU loss and are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. Also, the underdog is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings between these two teams.
Detroit is on a downward spiral and is underachieving like none other, while Charlotte is playing with confidence and finally has a healthy Kemba Walker.
I’ll gladly take the points in this one.
