I had high hopes for the Minnesota Timberwolves coming into this season, but so far, they have been a massive disappointment. With Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio finally healthy, this was supposed to be the year that Minnesota turns things around and makes their long awaited return to postseason action, however, that hasn’t been the case that all. The Timberwolves enter tonight’s game three games under .500 and six games behind the eighth placed Dallas Mavericks and with only 30 games left of the regular season, playoff seems very unlikely. On top of that, I don’t think there is any chance in hell that Kevin Love sticks around at the end of next season when he is a free agent and can go wherever he wants. Poor Minnesota.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers are coming off a solid 108-98 home win over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night and are currently in the drivers seat to finish with the first seed in the East come playoff time. Indiana hasn’t done much wrong this season, however, their last road games was a loss in Orlando and they have only covered the spread in three of their last 10 away from home. They also haven’t been great in the second game of back-to-backs as they are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games playing on zero days rest.
With Martin and Pekovic still out for Minnesota, the Pacers are going to be the play in this one. While Indy hasn't been great covering the spread on the road and in back-to-back situations, the Timberwolves are a mess right now I see them struggiling to cope with the size and athleticisim of this Pacers squad. Minny is ok against the sub .500 teams in the NBA but they struggle with the elite teams, which is exactly what Indiana is....
