The New Orleans Pelicans will travel to the Verizon Center to play the Washington Wizards. These teams played one another back in early January, and Washington won the game 102-96.
The Pelicans are coming off of a 90-87 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday. They have now lost two games in a row and four of their last five. During this stretch, they’re averaging 94.6 points on 46.6 percent shooting and allowing 97.6 points on 46.1 percent shooting. The starters are averaging just 60.6 points, which is about nine points less than the league average. On the road this season, the team is averaging 99 points and allowing 103.6 points. They are 23-27-3 ATS overall and 10-15-2 ATS on the road.

The Wizards have not played since their Wednesday victory over the Atlanta Hawks. They have lost five of their last seven games. However, in their last five games, they’re shooting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 100.2 points. Defensively, they’re allowing 97.8 points on 47.1 percent shooting. At home, they average 100.9 points and give up 99.9 points. Shooting guard Bradley Beal has had at least five assists in five of his last six games. The Wizards are 30-24 ATS overall and 11-16 ATS at home.
The Pelicans just have not shown enough offensively to believe that they’ll be able to cover this spread. They’ll need to score at least 100 points to keep this game close, and they’ve only done that three times in the last 10 games.
The Wizards are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Western Conference and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Meanwhile, New Orleans is 0-5 ATS in its last five meetings against Washington and 0-3-1 ATS in its last four games overall.
Give me the Wizards and the chalk.
