The Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers will share the same court for the third time on Thursday night. The two rivals have split the first two meetings.
The Clippers are back to their winning ways, as they’ve won five straight games and have actually held three straight opponents to under 100 points. During their winning streak, they’re averring 112.2 points on 49 percent shooting and are allowing 98.4 points on 42.3 percent shooting. That’s some of the best defense we’ve seen all year from the Clippers. Offensively, they’ve scored 100 or more points in 12 of their last 13 games. The Clippers are 36-26 ATS overall and 20-12 ATS on the road.

The Lakers have won three of their last seven games, which is a slight improvement given the circumstances of what’s been going on this season. However, they’re still a defensive mess. In their last five games, they’re averaging 111.8 points on 50.2 percent shooting, but are allowing a ridiculous 117.2 points on 49.7 percent shooting. They’ve allowed more than 100 points in eight of their last nine games. ATS, the Lakers are 32-28-1 overall and 14-14-1 on their home court.
Although the Lakers have shown a little bit of life over the last week or so, the Clippers are simply at another level than their heated rival. They’re scoring at will like they have all season, but now they’re actually playing a little bit of defense. That’s something the Lakers don’t do.
I’d lean the over, but the number is a little too high for my taste, which is why I’m eating the chalk. The Clippers have covered five of the last six meetings against the Lakers and are 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. Meanwhile, the Lakers are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Give me the Clippers.
