The Miami Heat head to San Antonio on Thursday to face off against the Spurs.
The Spurs are currently in second place in a very competitive Western Conference this season, trailing the Thunder by just one and a half games at this point. Honestly it probably doesn’t matter whether or not the Spurs finish in the number one or the number two spot, as I don’t see anyone really threatening them, nor the Thunder for the Western Finals. San Antonio heads into this meeting with the Heat have won four out of their last five, and four in a row. San Antonio’s latest win came on Tuesday, when the Spurs took care of the Cavs 122-101 in Cleveland.

The Miami Heat are essentially in the same boat as the Spurs are, as the Heat are in second place in the Eastern Conference at this point, trailing the first place Pacers by one and a half games. The Heat, like the Spurs don’t need to finish in the top spot, as the East is incredibly top heavy this season. Miami has both a top ten offense, and a top ten defense this season, as the Heat are scoring 104.7, while allowing 98.4 per game this season The Heat are playing very well as of late, winning eight of their last nine heading into this meeting with the Spurs. Miami’s last outing resulted in a tough loss to the Rockets in Houston on Tuesday night, 106-103.
The Heat are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games following an ATS loss, and Miami is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four games when playing on just one day of rest.
The Spurs are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games at home, and the Spurs are just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games when facing at team with a winning record.
I took the points with Miami on Tuesday night and got burned, but I have to back the Heat again. Miami is in a better spot here, and James and Company will definitely be up for the challenge, knowing that they will be on full display in this primetime game.
Close call, but I have to give the edge to the Heat, getting points here on Thursday.
