The Los Angeles Clippers hope to make light work of the slumping Atlanta Hawks tonight.
Head to head, the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Clippers are 26-10 ATS in their last 36 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games playing on 1 days rest and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Hawks on the other hand are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and 1-11-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
The Atlanta Hawks were one of my five best bets to go over their projector season win total of 40.5 games, which clearly isn't going to happen now. I can't really be mad about it either because I knew it was in trouble the second All Horford went down. The Hawks did overachieve in the following weeks their All-Star forward went down, but it's been downhill since then as they have dropped five straight and 13 of their last 14 overall. Here is a team that has failed to cover the spread in each of their last eight games away from home and 11 of 13 overall. This will also be their third game in four nights after falling in Golden State last night 111-97. Do you want more? Well, Atlanta is just 9-22 on the road this season and just 11-19-1 against the spread in those games.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Los Angeles Clippers are the hottest team in the NBA right now, having won six straight by an average of 19.5 points per game. That average is so high due to their 142-94 beat down of the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, which was their cross-town rivals worst defeat in franchise history. The Clipps have also covered the spread in each any everyone of those six matches and they have been especially dominant over the weaker teams at home this season, going 26-10 ATS in their last 36 home games against a team with a road winning percent of less than .400.
