The Houston Rockets hope to extend their winning streak to five games when they host the Portland Trailblazers. This is the fourth and final meeting between these teams during the regular season, and the Rockets lead the series 2-1.
Since getting LaMarcus Aldridge back from injury, the Trailblazers are back to being unstoppable offensively. Just in their last five games, they’re averaging 106.4 points on 46.8 percent from the field. However, the surprise has been defensively, as they’ve held six of their last eight opponents under 100 points. They’re also averaging close to 15 rebounds more than their opponent in their last five contests. On the road, the Trailblazers average 107.7 points and allow 105.2 points. They are 33-29 ATS overall and 18-12 ATS on the road.

The Rockets are playing some of their best basketball during their winning streak. During this stretch, they’re averaging 106 points on 49.4 percent shooting and are allowing 97.8 points on 45.5 percent shooting. The defense has really picked up lately, and those wins are over some of the league’s best in Miami and Indiana. At home, the Rockets average 107 points and allow 98.6 points. They are 33-27-2 ATS overall and 17-13-2 ATS on their home court.
This number is a little crazy to me because I don’t think it’s giving Portland enough respect. The Trailblazers have established themselves as a true contender in the West and have covered in five of their last six road games. Portland is also 3-1 ATS this season when made an underdog by at least six points.
Houston has covered in its last four home games against teams with a winning road record and is 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 meetings against Portland.
However, the Trailblazers have the offense to match Houston and the physical bodies in the paint to keep this one close. These teams are very similar, which is why it wouldn’t surprise me to see Portland win outright.
I’ll take the points.
