NBA Injury Updates 3/10: Watson, Crawford and More
March 10, 2014
Now that the heavy weekend schedule in the NBA is all finished up, this morning seems like a good time to check in once again on some of the injury situations out there. Today we’ve got our usual crop of ailing players, each various stages of recovery. Let’s see if we can take a closer look and determine their immediate futures. Here’s the latest.
C.J. Watson, PG, Indiana Pacers: There’s a lack of concrete information out there about Watson, but from most indications it’s not looking too positive. Here’s what we know: He missed out on yesterday’s game against Dallas, which marked his third missed contest in a row since spraining his right elbow.
Perhaps of most significance, Watson was ruled out for the Mavs game way back on Saturday, which would seem to indicate that he’s pretty far away from making a return to the floor. His next chance to come back is tomorrow against Boston, so we’ll see what happens there.

Jared Dudley, SG/SF, Los Angeles Clippers: Dudley has missed two games so far due to back spasms. The good news with that is the Clippers keep winning without him. They’re on a seven-game win streak right now and looking rock-solid, which is a good indication they’ll be taking things as slow as possible with Dudley.
With Matt Barnes playing well and Danny Granger available, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Dudley sit out again. For now, we’ll consider him questionable for tonight against Phoenix.
Carl Landry, PF/SF, Sacramento Kings: The big injury news out of Sacramento over the weekend concerned Landry, and the fact that he’ll be out for the remainder of the season following a tear to the medial meniscus of his right knee.
That’s just more bad news for a struggling Kings team, as Landry was only able to play a grand total of 18 games in 2013-14. Making that even more painful is the four-year, $26 million contract he signed before the campaign began.
Kevin Garnett, PF, Brooklyn Nets: Now let’s move on to Sacramento’s opponents yesterday and take a look at Garnett. The Nets were without him once again, making this the veteran’s fifth straight missed game. He’s been having issues with back spasms recently that have had him sidelined.
Garnett hasn’t played this month yet. The last time we saw him was February 27 against Denver. His next opportunity to hit the floor comes tonight against the Raptors, and we’ll likely have to wait until close to game-time to see what his status is.
Jamal Crawford, SG, Los Angeles Clippers: Uh-oh. Bad news for the Clippers this morning. Crawford has been ruled out for today’s game against the Suns, thanks to a setback he experienced over the weekend. On Saturday, he was able to log just 10 minutes of court time before coming out again after his calf strain flared up.
Before this past weekend, Crawford had missed three games due to his injury. We’d assume the Clippers will take it very slow with him from here on out, as they don’t want to risk losing him for the playoffs. We wouldn’t be surprised if he sits Wednesday too.
