The Line: New York Knicks -14 -- Over/Under: 212 See the Latest Odds
The Philadelphia 76ers will stop by Madison Square Garden to play the New York Knicks on Monday night. This will be the third meeting between the two teams, and they have split the first two games back in January.
The 76ers continue to be an absolute mess, as they have not won a game since January 29. They’re averaging 99.7 points on 43.2 percent shooting and are allowing 110.9 points on 46.9 percent shooting. They simply can’t do anything right on either side of the ball and have lost their last eight games by double digits. On the road, they average 94.8 points and allow 110 points. They are 22-40 ATS overall and 14-16 ATS on the road.
The Knicks have surprisingly won three straight games and are hoping to use this momentum to sneak into the playoff conversation. They’ve really turned up the intensity in their last five games, averaging 101.6 points on 45.6 percent shooting and allowing 97.8 points on 42.9 percent shooting. In the month of March, Carmelo Anthony is averaging 27.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists, carrying the Knicks pretty much by himself. At home, they average 99.2 points and allow 100.5 points. They are 27-37 ATS overall and 12-21 ATS on their home court.
We know the 76ers are by far the worst team in the NBA, but are the Knicks really deserving of a double-digit spot? It’s not like New York is an elite team in the league themselves.
The Knicks have failed to cover in the three games where they were a favorite by at least eight points, now we’re supposed to trust them with 14?
The underdog and road team are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams.
This isn’t a play for the 76ers, it’s more of a play against the Knicks, a team that has severally underachieved all season.
Take the points with caution.
