The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.
Head to head, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Atlanta and favorite is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Nuggets on the other hand are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games playing on 0 days rest, 11-28 ATS in their last 39 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
What exactly have the Atlanta Hawks done lately to deserve being six-point favorites against the Denver Nuggets tonight? Sure the Hawks have won two straight, but a two-point win over the Utah Jazz and a five-point victory over the Milwaukee Bucks doesn't impress anybody. Before those back-to-back wins, Atlanta had dropped 14 of their last 15 contests, which makes them the second-worst team in the entire NBA over that time period, oly worst than the Philadelphia 76ers.
While the Denver Nuggets have had their fair share of troubles lately, they too come into tonight's game riding a two-game winning streak and have been victories in four of their past six. Their latest win was their most impressive, taking down the reigning champion Miami Heat 111-107 on Friday night in South Beach. Behind 24 points and 10 boards from Kenneth 'The Manimal' Faried, the Nuggs led by as many as 16 points as they held on to beat a slumping Heat team that has now dropped five of six.
I was initially going to take Denver in this one, but they are in a pretty bad spot here. This will be their third game in four nights and their fifth road game seven nights, which is just about as hard as it gets in the NBA. The Hawks on the other hand have only played twice this week so far, so they should be nice and rested for what should be a tired Denver team.
