The red-hot Brooklyn Nets invade the Verizon Center tonight to take on the Washington Wizards.
The Nets have won seven of their last eight and will be going for a fourth straight tonight after taking down the Heat by 96-95 on Wednesday. Paul Pierce turned back the clock and led the way with five three pointers en route to a game-high 29 points including 17 in the third quarter as the Nets showed for the third time this season that they can beat the defending champs. Other than Pierce's big night, the difference between the teams was the Nets' bench which outscored the Heat's bench by 36-13, led by 17 points from Mirza Teletovic. Defensively, the Nets have allowed 7.0 fewer points per game since the New Year which is the biggest reason why they are 22-9 since Jan 1st, the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the Wizards have won nine of their last 12 and were able to avoid a third straight loss on Friday by beating the Magic by 105-101 in overtime. Trevor Ariza and John Wall led the scoring with 21 points apiece while Bradley Beal added 20 before getting helped off the court with an ankle injury in overtime. The Wizards will be delighted with winning in overtime but they will be disappointed that they let an early 23-8 lead disappear as quickly as it came, which has become a bad habit for this streaky three-point shooting team. With the win, Washington improves to 34-31 overall and 18-15 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 7-1 ATS in the last eight games overall, while the Wizards are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Nets are 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings in Washington and the Over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
In the form the Nets have been in, it's just too hard to resist taking them to win and cover the spread in this game.
