In what should be a wonderful basketball matchup, the Golden State Warriors will take on the Portland Trailblazers Sunday night. It’s the third of four scheduled meetings, as the two teams split the first two matchups.
The Warriors have followed up five straight wins with two consecutive losses, including a 103-94 loss on Friday to Cleveland. In that loss, defense was optional with the Cavs shooting 48.8 percent from the field and knocking down 10 threes. On the season, the Warriors average 103.4 points on 45.8 percent shooting and allow 98.7 points on 43.4 percent shooting. They are 32-32-3 ATS overall and 18-16-1 ATS on the road.

The Trailblazers snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday with a 111-103 win over New Orleans. They simply haven’t been themselves lately on either side of the ball. In their last five matchups, they’re averaging 102.2 points on 42.7 percent shooting and are allowing 107.2 points on 47.2 percent shooting. The Trailblazers are now 1-7 SU in their last eight games when allowing 100-plus points. Point guard Damian Lillard has bet hot recently from beyond the arc, knocking down at least three threes in three of his last four games. Portland is 35-31 ATS overall and 15-17 ATS at home.
The Warriors are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a SU loss and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss. The Trailblazers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Warriors are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Portland.
Portland is really struggling defensively, which isn’t good when playing a powerhouse offensive team such as Golden State. The Warriors have had great success against the number against Portland in the past, and I like that to continue.
I like Golden State winning SU on the road after getting embarrassed by Cleveland, but I’ll take the small points as well.
