The Minnesota Timberwolves take the trip to the American Airlines Center tonight to take on the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks have won five of their last six and will be looking to build on a three-game win streak after sneaking past the Celtics by 94-89 on Monday. Dirk Nowitzki led a balanced scoring effort with 19 points, including seven in the fourth quarter as the Mavs held off a ferocious Celtics comeback attempt that saw them trim a double-digit deficit to just one point. With the win, Dallas improves to a season-high 14 games over .500 with a record of 41-27 which is good enough for seventh place in the Western Conference, just one game behind Golden State and one game ahead of Memphis.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have won nine of their last 13 games and will be feeling a little lucky after sneaking past the Kings by 104-102 on Sunday. Kevin Love led the way with 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists while Kevin Martin made a perfect 14 of 14 from the free throw line to finish with a game-high 31 points, but the real x-factor for the Wolves was Gorgui Dieng who filled in for Nikola Pekovic in the starting lineup and had 12 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. With the win, Minnesota improves to 33-32 which leaves them 5 1/2 games out of the last spot in the West so it's highly unlikely they will make the playoffs from here.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine against the Western Conference, while the Wolves are 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the Wolves are 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Dallas but the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Wolves are a long shot to make the playoffs from their current position but I just get the feeling that they will still show plenty of fight before the next few games, so I'll be taking them with the points in what should be a high-scoring affair.
