The Philadelphia 76ers hope to snap a 25-game losing streak when they take on the Houston Rockets on Thursday. This is the second and final meeting between these teams, as the 76ers won the previous meting 123-117 in November in overtime.
Nothing really has changed with the 76ers over the last couple of months. Philadelphia continues to lose and becomes that much closer to being crowned the worst team in NBA history. On the season, the 76ers average 98.7 points on 42.9 percent shooting and allows 110 points on 47 percent shooting. The 76ers have scored more than 100 points in just one of their last 12 games and aren’t doing any better defensively. Against Philly, opponents are shooting 37.3 percent from downtown in the last five games. The Philadelphia 76ers are 28-43 ATS overall and 17-17 ATS on the road.

The Rockets have won four straight and nine of their last 12 games. On the season, the Rockets average 106.8 points on 47.6 percent shooting and allow 101.8 points on 43.9 percent shooting. In his last five games, shooting guard James Harden is shooting 53.9 percent from the field, 53.7 percent from three and is averaging 28.2 points. The Rockets are 26-1 SU in their last 27 games when scoring 100-plus points. The Houston Rockets are 36-32-2 ATS overall and 19-14-2 ATS at home.
The 76ers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest. The Rockets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams, while the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
The Rockets haven’t been favored by 15-plus point all season, while the 76ers are 5-4 ATS when an underdog by 14-plus. I refuse to chalk that’s this insane even though the Rockets are more than capable of getting the job done.
I’ll take the 76ers and the truckload of points, however, it’s probably best to just avoid this game all together.
