The New Orleans Pelicans and the Sacramento Kings face off on Monday in a NBA Western Conference battle of teams who won’t be in the playoffs this season.
The New Orleans got a new nickname this season but it has been a lot of the same results on the court as they appear headed to the NBA Draft Lottery once again. The Pelicans are a building project and taking steps forward but they appear to be a piece or two away from becoming a contender. Anthony Davis leads New Orleans averaging 21.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.38 steals, and 2.86 blocks per game but he is questionable for this one. Eric Gordon is doubtful and he is averaging 15.4 points, Tyreke Evans is averaging 14 points, and Brian Roberts is averaging 9.6 points. As a team the Pelicans are averaging 99.9 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the floor while defensively New Orleans is allowing 102.1 points and their opponents are shooting 46.3 percent. New Orleans should get help in what looks to be a home run of a NBA Draft.

The Sacramento Kings are suffering through a rough season at 19 games out of the final playoff spot in the West. The Kings are 10-27 on the road this season, they have lost here games in a row, and they are 3-7 in their last 10 games. DeMarcus Cousins leads Sacramento averaging 22.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.52 steals, and 1.27 blocks. Isaiah Thomas is questionable and he is averaging 20.7 points and 6.4 assists, Rudy Gay is averaging 20.2 and 5.6 rebounds, and Derrick Williams is averaging 9.1 points. The Kings are averaging 101 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 1-3.5 points and their opponents are shooting 46.2 percent. The Kings need help in a lot of areas if they want to be a contender.
New Orleans is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four home games, 4-1-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 2-7 against the spread following a loss. Sacramento is 5-0-1 against the spread following a loss, 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine games, and 3-1-1 against the spread against the West. The favorite has covered the spread in six of the last seven meetings of these two.
The Pelicans are banged up and that is never good so going to take the small number with the road dog.
