The Los Angeles Lakers square off against the Portland Trail Blazers from STAPLES Center on Tuesday night.
Head to head, the Trail Blazers are 32-14 ATS in the last 46 meetings while the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and the underdog is 31-15 ATS in the last 46 meetings. The Lakers are 17-35-2 ATS in their last 54 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a SU win of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Western Conference.
The Los Angeles Lakers are only 8-20-1 against the spread in their last 29 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points. What does that tell you? Either, they always play tough teams after they register a victory or more likely, they take their foot off the gas. The Lakers are coming off one of their best wins of the season following their 115-99 rout of the visiting Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. On the bright side, LA has now won three straight at home after recent wins over Orlando and New York, exploding for 51 third-quarter points in their win over the Knicks.
While the Portland Trail Blazers aren't the same team we saw in the first two months of the season, they are still a pretty dangerous squad and they are coming off three straight victories over likely playoff teams. After back-to-back road wins in Atlanta and Chicago by a combined 32 points, the Trail Blazers returned home to post an important 105-98 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies team that is fighting for their playoff lives as well.
I don't fancy taking either team tonight because I could see the Lakers winning outright or losing by 20+. Instead, the safe option would be to take the over because I don't see any defense being played at all in this one...
