The Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Clippers face off on Wednesday in a NBA battle of teams who could meet in the playoffs.
The Phoenix Suns are tied for the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff race but unfortunately that also puts them tied for eighth and that means they are just a half of a game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks. The Suns are 25-13 at home this season and 8-2 in their last 10 games though they are coming off of a loss. Goran Dragic leads the Suns averaging 20.5 points and 5.9 assists per game. Eric Bledsoe is averaging 17.3 points and 5.7 assists, Gerald Green is averaging 15.5 points, and Markieff Morriss is averaging 13.8 points and 6.0 rebounds. The Suns are averaging 105.4 points and they are shooting 45.3 percent including 36 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 1-2.6 points and their opponents are shooting 45.5 percent. Phoenix are going to need a strong finish of they hope to be part of the post season.

The Los Angeles Clippers have clinched a playoff spot and they are in third place in the Western Conference standings. Blake Griffin is questionable but he leads the Clippers averaging 14 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Chris Paul is averaging 19 points and 10.9 assists, Darren Collison is averaging 11.1 points, and DeAndre Jordan is averaging 10.3 points and 13.9 rebounds. The Clippers are averaging 107.6 points and they are shooting 47.5 percent including 35.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 100.5 points and their opponents are shooting 44.1 percent. The Clippers The Clippers look like they will have home court advantage for at least their fist series.
Phoenix is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 23-9 following a loss. Los Angeles is 7-2-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread, 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games, and 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record. LA is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games in Phoenix.
The line here is small with the better team getting points but the issue here is clearly that the Clippers are banged up and with the Suns having their backs to the wall I will take Phoenix here.
