The Charlotte Bobcats and the Miami Heat face off on Sunday in Miami as they play game one of their first round NBA Eastern Conference playoff series.
The Charlotte Bobcats are one of the NBA teams who seem to always be building but this season they are in the playoffs, facing the two time defending NBA Champions. The Bobcats are 18-23 on the road this season, 8-2 in their last 10 games, and they have won their last three games. Al Jefferson leads Charlotte averaging 21.8 points and 10.8 rebounds, Kemba Walker is averaging 17.7 points and 6.1 assists, and Gerald Henderson is averaging 14 points. As a team the Bobcats are averaging 96.9 points and they are shooting 44.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 97.1 points and their opponents shoot 44.2 percent. The Bobcats haven’t had much success against the Heat in recent years.

The Miami Heat finished in second place in the Eastern Conference standings as they rested many of their stars down the stretch. The Heat are 32-9 at home, 34-18 against the Eastern Conference, but they have lost their last three games. LeBron James leads Miami averaging 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists, Dwyane Wade is averaging 19 points, and Chris Bosh is averaging 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. As a team the Heat are averaging 102.2 points and they are shooting 50.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 97.4 points and their opponents are shooting 45.7 percent. The Heat are looking to make their fourth NBA Finals in a row so they are playoff vets.
Charlotte is 6-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games, and 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record. Miami is 6-1 against the spread following a double-digit home loss, 1-4 against the spread against the Eastern Conference, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games. The road team has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
The total in this one seems to be a little on the low side and while it is just a lean I see this one squeaking over.
My stronger play is on who will cover the point spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
