The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks will play game six Friday night with the Spurs leading the series 3-2.
In the 109-103 game five win, the Spurs played vintage Spurs basketball by having four of their five starters score in the double figures, and they only turned the ball over five times. The win was a rare one for the Spurs considering they’re 3-6 SU in their last nine games when allowing 100 or more points. There’s still things to improve on, but the Spurs are shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three in this series. Tony Parker finally showed up in the game five win by dishing out five assists and scoring 23 points. Danny Green, however, continues to sleep walk as he’s shooting 35.3 percent and has scored no more than six points in the first five games. The San Antonio Spurs are 45-42 ATS overall and 25-18 ATS on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
The Mavericks played well enough to win game five, knocking down 12 threes and turning the ball over only eight times, but three of their five starters scored in the single digits. Besides Vince Carter and Devon Harris at times, the Mavs continue to rely heavily on Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki. Ellis has scored 20 or more points in the last four games, but Nowitzki is 0-5 from downtown in the last two matchups. The good news for the Mavericks is that they do return home, a place where they shoot 47.8 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three. The Dallas Mavericks are 49-38 ATS overall and 19-24 ATS at home.
The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Mavericks are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 42-14 ATS in their last 56 games following a S.U. loss. The Spurs are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Dallas, but just 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
This series has come down to the wire pretty much each game and the Mavs shoot extremely well on their home court. I see this series going seven games with the Mavericks winning on Friday. However, take the points just to be safe.
