Was it a suprise to anyone that Game 1 went like it did? Given how the Indiana Pacers peformed against the Atlanta Hawks in round 1, it shouldn't shock anyone to see the Washington Wizards come away with a 102-96 victory in Game 1 on Monday night in Indiana. The No .1 seeded Pacers needed everything they had to get past an under-manned Hawks squad in the opening round and they look overmatched on Monday night, trailing 28-15 at the end of the first term, which ultimatley proved to be the difference in the game.
Normally I'd be all for taking the home team to bounce back in this situation, but I just don't know with the way this Pacers squad has played these past couple of months. People, including myself, keep on waiting for this team to turn things around, but I just don't think it's going to happen. I mean, look at Roy Hibbert for instance, he didn't score or grab a rebound in Game 1!!!
Remember how good this guy was in their series against the Miami Heat in last season's playoffs. Now, he can't even pull down a rebound against the Wizards for crying out loud. Plus, they are coming up against a team that is much better than the Atlanta Hawks, a team that went up 2-0 against the Bulls in Chicago.
I thought the Wizards were going to win this series in six games and nothing that happened in Game 1 has changed my mind. If anything, it just re-inforces my view. I think the Pacers probably win tonight, but the Wizards get the cover in a close one...
