The Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat will square off Thursday night for game two of the NBA playoffs. The Heat lead the series 1-0.
Despite the Nets shooting 47.1 percent from the field and knocking down 10 threes in the game one loss, they struggled to play defense. The Nets allowed the Heat to shoot 56.8 percent and fall to 3-9 SU in their last 12 games when allowing 100 or more points. Offensively, Paul Pierce has got to get going if the Nets have any shot, as he’s shooting 35.1 percent from downtown in the playoffs and scored just eight points in the game one loss. In the Nets last five games, they’re averaging 95.8 points on 46.9 percent shooting and allowing 99 points on 46.4 percent shooting. The Brooklyn Nets are 46-43-1 ATS overall and 20-24-1 ATS on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
LeBron James led the Heat with 22 points in game one, but Ray Allen was absolutely huge with 19 points off the bench. The Heat are 21-5 SU in their last 26 games when scoring 100 or more points. In the Heat’s last five games, they’re averaging 102.8 points on 49.5 percent shooting and allowing 90.8 points on 45.3 percent shooting. The Heat are also shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the arc. Dwyane Wade looks as good as he has all season, averaging just 33.3 minutes throughout the playoffs, but he’s shooting 50 percent from the field. The Miami Heat are 41-44-2 ATS overall and 20-23-1 ATS at home.
The Nets are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 Conference Semifinals games. The Nets are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
As long as the spread is below double digits, I'm going to keep riding the Heat wave. Miami is clearly the better team in this matchup and simply has another gear in the playoffs that the Nets don't. The Heat are getting whatever they want offensively and turn things up defensively in the second half.
Once again, Miami wins by 10-plus.
