NBA Draft: June 26, 2014
USA TODAY Sports
2013-14 Season: 9.4 PPG-2.5 RPG-1.8 APG
Strengths: Very fast and quick and a great leaper. Has extended range past the NBA three point line with a fast release and the ability to create his own shot. Good ball handler and has 'instant offense' capability from anywhere on the floor. Difficult to guard because he can slash to the basket and finish and shoot off of the dribble or screens.
Weakness: Needs to drive to the basket and draw contact instead of settling for jumpers and improve upon 69% shooting at the stripe. Needs to bulk up to absorb the more physical NBA. Not a good defender and tends not to do anything well when his shot isn't falling.
Projection: LaVine is one of those prospects that has world of talent and potential that will need to develop. He has been projected from a lottery pick to middle of the first round and will be chosen on his untapped potential if for no other reason.
