With the NBA regular-season schedule coming out this week, the anticipation is high coming into this new 2014-15 season. As a result, there’s a lot to talk about as we finish off the week, so with that said let’s take our daily stroll around the league and see which players and headlines everyone’s talking about right now.

Thomas Surgery: We haven’t had a chance to get to this one just yet, so let’s head down to Phoenix to check out the situation.
Suns guard Isaiah Thomas underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist, according to an announcement by the team late this week. The procedure took place on Thursday in New York.
Thomas was plagued with a sprained wrist during the 2013-14 campaign, but was able to overcome it and post some great numbers. He had no ligament damage according to an MRI back in February, so he should be just fine for training camp.

Portland All-Star Game?: There has never been an NBA All-Star Game that took place in Portland, and team officials believe it’s high time that changed.
The Trail Blazers officially submitted a bid to host either the 2017 or 2018 All-Star festivities at the Moda Center late this week. The proposal reportedly included “60 or 70” pages of information on how the city could accommodate the influx of fans and activities.
It’ll be a while before the league makes a decision on a site. The earliest will likely be in the first part of next year. Portland’s not alone in their proposal, however. The Hornets have submitted a bid as well, and there could be other teams involved.

USA-Brazil Outlook: There are a few interesting storylines taking place in today’s World Cup of Basketball tune-up featuring the USA versus Brazil at Chicago’s United Center today. First off, we’ll be seeing Derrick Rose on his home court for the first time since his most recent knee injury, which will begin a long road of proving himself this season. For Rose, it should serve as an opportunity to get himself warmed up and back in the groove before the NBA season starts.
Also, as expected, big man DeMarcus Cousins is slated to be sitting out of this one after sustaining a knee injury of his own this week. He’s considered day-to-day.
