NBA Player Updates 10/1: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
October 1, 2014
Now that it’s October, it’s really starting to feel like the NBA season is on its way. We’ve only got four more weeks to wait until the new campaign, and three more days until we get to see our favorite teams in preseason action. With that in mind, let’s fill some more time by checking out some of the latest news.
Atlanta’s Kyle Korver might be skipping out on training camp within the next few days, but he’s got a good reason for doing so. The birth of his child is imminent, and when the big day comes he’ll be leaving camp for a while. After a bit of paternity leave, he’ll be back on the practice court, however.

Milwaukee’s Ersan Ilyasova gave himself a glowing review health-wise this week. He told the media that he’s 100 percent healthy and ready to go for the 2014-15 campaign.
Ilyasova battled foot and ankle injuries last year, which cut down his games to 55. During that time, he posted 11.2 PPG and 6.2 RPG averages.
Get ready to deal with the ups and downs of LeBron James’ back this season, Cavs fans. This week, he described his back as “kind of iffy” lately, saying that his trouble “comes and goes.”
That said, James doesn’t expect to be missing out on any camp time, so he should be just fine for now. This issue could (and probably will) pop back up again during the season, however.
Let’s head back to Atlanta and check out Hawks center Al Horford. He was out of contact work yesterday, but according to the team, he’ll be 100 percent by the time the season begins.
Horford had to miss time last year thanks to a torn pectoral muscle. When he was on the court, he averaged 18.6 PPG in 29 appearances.
Heat center Justin Hamilton underwent heart surgery to repair an atrial flutter early this week. He’d been feeling lightheaded during practice, which led doctors to the root of the problem.
Hamilton will be back in a non-contact capacity in a few days and will get checked out again in a few weeks.
