Two old rivals collide in preseason action as the Detroit Pistons host the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
What can we expect from the Detroit Pistons this season? I don’t think anyone knows the answer to that question. Well, one man that might know is Stan Van Gundy, who was appointed the new head coach and president of basketball operations this offseason. In doing so, Van Gundy was basically handed the keys to run things for a Pistons team that has been languishing at the bottom of the standings for the best part of six years. As we all know, things can turn around pretty quickly in the NBA and Detroit fans have the right to feel optimistic, because there is some serious talent on this roster, none more so than young big man Andre Drummond, who looks set to have a breakout year after an impressive showing last season. With the way the East has performed the last couple of years, the Pistons could very well make their way back into postseason action. Only time will tell….

Derrick Rose is finally back and ready to lead the Chicago into the new NBA season, where expectations will be high for this reloaded Chicago Bulls squad. After spending the last two years watching from sidelines, Rose and the city of Chicago are ready for a fresh start, one that sees the Bulls contending for an NBA championship. While Rose didn’t shoot it particularly well during the FIBA World Championship, no one is too concerned because we saw some of the explosiveness that we were all accustomed to seeing because those two crippling injuries. Rose won’t have to go at it alone either as Chicago added some key pieces this offseason, none bigger than former LA Laker in Pau Gasol. Chicago also added a pair of rookie forwards in Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic, who will help mostly on the offensive end.
With the Bulls have already played last night, one would think that the likes of Rose, Noah and maybe even Gasol would be rested tonight. Give me Detroit in their home opener...
