The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will play a Thursday night preseason game at the STAPLES Center.
The Golden State Warriors won their first preseason game over the Los Angeles Clippers, 112-94, and displayed excellent ball movement by racking up 25 assists on 35 made baskets. The Warriors shot 48.6 percent from the field and were led by Klay Thompson’s 20 points. Stephen Curry played only 18 minutes and shot 2-7 from the field, and you can expect his minutes to be heavily monitored in this game as well. Draymond Green saw a bulk of the action with 26 minutes and shot 50 percent from the field, and you can expect him to continue to see quality reps as he prepares for a much bigger role after what he showed in last year’s playoffs. This preseason is absolutely huge for Harrison Barnes, who needs to start becoming the player Golden State thought they were getting when they drafted him a few years ago.

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets in their first preseason game, 98-95, and saw Kobe Bryant play for the first time in nearly a year. Kobe was 5-12 from the field for 13 points and had five assists in the victory. Overall, the Lakers shot 44.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from three and had 29 assists on 39 made baskets. Rookie point guard Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers with 14 points and it was good for LA considering they need all the depth they can get at the moment. Rookie Julius Randle also scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 27 minutes. While it was only one preseason game, the Los Angeles Lakers looked pretty sharp and received some solid contributions from expected players, which could carry over into the regular season.
Thompson and Curry aren't going to play much in this matchup, while everybody on the Lakers is fighting for playing time. When you add in the fact Kobe should be better and it's in the Staples Center, I'll take my chances with the Lakers and the points.
