The Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers will play Friday night preseason ball at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Orlando Magic won their first preseason game of the year with a 108-101 overtime win over the Miami Heat. The Magic shot a solid 45.5 percent from the field and 35 percent from three, all while turning the ball over 16 times in five periods. Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 16 points and Dewayne Dedmon grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench. Prized rookie Aaron Gordon played 29 minutes, shooting 2-6 from the field and grabbing eight rebounds while showcasing his elite athleticism throughout the game. While Orlando fans may not have had much hope for Devyn Marble, he did knock down three of his four three-ball attempts, scoring 13 points in as many minutes. Overall, the Orlando Magic played one of the more complete preseason games we’ve seen so far.
USA TODAY Sports
The Indiana Pacers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-90 in their first preseason games. While the Pacers made only 25 percent of their threes, they did knock down 48.2 percent from the field. George Hill led Indiana with 17 points, while Shayne Whittington and Lavoy Allen were the other two players who scored in double digits. With no Lance Stephenson or Paul George, the Indiana Pacers are desperate to find guys who can put the ball in the hoop, which is why nearly their entire roster is getting a look throughout these games. Roy Hibbert grabbed five rebounds and had eight points in 16 minutes, as he looked a lot more comfortable than he did in the second half of last season. The Pacers need all hands on deck if they’re even going to make playoffs this year.
