Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks
NBA Basketball: Saturday
The Line: See the Latest Odds
The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics play again this preseason Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The New York Knicks lost their first preseason game by 20 points, and certainly their 28 turnovers didn’t help. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the charge with 18 points off the bench and Carmelo Anthony was the only other player to drop double-digit points. Besides a few players, the Knicks really don’t know what they have as a basketball team and need to find a handful of guys who can contribute at a high level. Point guard Pablo Prigioni had four assists in 14 minutes, and Quincy Acy grabbed five rebounds in 19 minutes. Pretty much everybody who is available is playing for the New York Knicks, as head coach Derek Fisher needs to find answers before the season begins if they have any hope of reaching the playoffs this season.
USA TODAY Sports
The Boston Celtics lost their first preseason game Friday night against the Toronto Raptors, 116-109. Even in a loss, the Celtics shot a solid 49.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. Avery Bradley dropped 22 points, while Marcus Thornton chipped in 19 points off the bench. If the Celtics can get that type of production in the regular season, Boston fans would be extremely happy with the results. The bad news is that rookie point guard Marcus Smart continues to struggle, as he’s a combined 6-24 from the field this preseason. Smart has to learn quickly and start improving if the Celtics are going to survive Rajon Rondo being out with an injury. Jeff Green will continue to be out with a calf injury and isn’t expected to return until next week at the earliest.
The Knicks should get their revenge after being embrassed the last time they played the Celtics. I'll take the better team and the points here.
