The Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets will play a Monday preseason game at the Toyota Center on NBATV.
The Phoenix Suns have won both of their preseason games, including a win Friday over the Denver Nuggets. The Suns relied heavily on the long ball in their last game, knocking down 12 of 31 threes and making just 39.3 percent from the field. The Suns are a young, talented team that’s still trying to form an identity and make a playoff push this season. The addition of Isaiah Thomas will pay off in a big way, as he had six assists in 23 minutes in his last game, and Goran Dragic made five of nine shots and is quickly becoming one of the more underrated players in the entire league. Rookie T.J. Warren shot 50 percent from the field and Tyler Ennis played just eight minutes and turned the ball over twice.

The Houston Rockets also won their first two games and have been scoring machines like they were all of last season. The Rockets have shot 42 percent or better in both games, and star guard James Harden has scored a combined 38 points. Dwight Howard missed the last game with a bruised knee and is expected to not play in this matchup as well. Rookie Nick Johnson continues to improve with each game and has racked up six assists overall. The Rockets also have to be thrilled with the addition of Trevor Ariza, as he’s knocked down two threes in each of the first two games. Patrick Beverley has turned the ball over three times and is shooting 50 percent from the field. The Houston Rockets are looking sharp so far in the preseason despite not having their big man on the court.
While the Rockets have been scoring at will, the Suns are no joke in their own right and have had success shooting the deep ball. In a preseason game, I'm always going to take the truckload of points and hope for the best when we're getting two solid teams.
