The New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers will play a Tuesday preseason game at the Carrier Dome.
This is a back-to-back game for the New York Knicks, as they fell to 1-2 in the preseason with a loss Monday to the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks are coming off a horrible offensive performance, as they shot just 37.8 percent from the field and 13 percent from three. The only New York player who scored in the double digits was J.R. Smith, and he was a poor 4-12 from the field. Carmelo Anthony played in only 15 minutes and it’s clear he’s waiting for the regular season to begin as the other New York players try to iron out any wrinkles. Samuel Dalembert did a solid job of grabbing seven rebounds in 19 minutes, and he’s proven to be a decent big man for a Knicks team that lacks depth. With the up and down performances from the New York Knicks, it’s clear why many NYK fans are worried.
The Philadelphia 76ers are also 1-2 and haven’t played a preseason game since Friday. The 76ers last performance was an offensive explosion, as they shot 53.7 percent from the field and had six different players score in the double digits. Henry Sims led Philly with 17 points and Brandon Davies was second on the team with 13 points. With tons of roster spots up for grabs and the 76ers looking for just about anyone willing to help out, Philadelphia has actually been pretty competitive through their first three games. Nerlens Noel picked up a ton of minutes in the first two games but didn’t see action on Friday, however, he’s expected to play in this matchup. Watch out for point guard Casper Ware, who has 14 assists this preseason and is looking like a solid pickup.
It's hard for me to lay the chalk with the Knicks after the way they played yesterday. Take the 76ers and the points.
