Thunder vs. Grizzlies
NBA Basketball: Tuesday
The Line: See the Latest Odds
The Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder will play a Tuesday preseason game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Memphis Grizzlies are 1-2 in the preseason and will play their third game on the road. The Grizzlies are still hoping to find a spark offensively, as they’re coming off a game where they shot just 28.6 percent from downtown. Vince Carter has been dealing with a banged up ankle, but played 13 minutes in his last game and shot a decent 2-3 from the field. Mike Conley and Marc Gasol combined for 43 points in the Grizzlies last contest and look to be in regular season form. Rookie Jarnell Stokes didn’t play in Memphis’ last game, but he fits perfectly in what the Grizzlies are trying to do and has impressed his teammates at both ends of the court. The Memphis Grizzlies could use some depth and still need to find some offense. Until then, the Grizz are what they are.
USA TODAY Sports
The Oklahoma City Thunder will find out what life is like without star Kevin Durant, who has been ruled out for a period of time with a broken foot. Of course, injuries aren’t anything new for the Thunder, as Mitch McGary is also out for a while with an injury. The Thunder will now be led by point guard Russell Westbrook, who some may argue that he was already the engine that made OKC go. One player I look to really step up during this time is shooting guard Jeremy Lamb, who has had the talent to be a key contributor but has never been given a real shot. Serge Ibaka finished a full practice this week and is expected to be ready for the regular season. The Oklahoma City Thunder is a team you could make some major money on due to soft lines by the time the regular season begins.
The Oklahoma City Thunder may be banged up but they still have more than enough firepower to outscore the Memphis Grizzlies. OKC should still take care of the low number.
