NBA Player Updates 10/17: News From Around the League
We’ve reached the second-to-last weekend before the official start of the 2014-15 NBA regular season, so that means the anticipation has ratcheted up another notch. While we’re waiting on more exhibition play, let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players are making headlines right now.
Let’s check in on the Cavaliers’ Kevin Love and his ailing neck. Cleveland coach David Blatt told the media yesterday that Love has a stiff neck, stemming from Wednesday’s preseason game.
The good news here is that Love’s condition isn’t serious, and the team hopes he’ll be good to go for tonight against Dallas.

Washington waived Daniel Orton yesterday. Assuming he signs on with another team, he’ll have a one-game suspension to serve stemming from a preseason brawl.
Bad news for the Hornets’ Gerald Henderson. He experienced a setback with his injured hamstring and isn’t expected to see the floor tonight or Sunday.
A decision still hasn’t been formally made on whether Henderson or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will make the starting lineup, but this certainly doesn’t help the former’s chances.
In other Hornets news, Kemba Walker isn’t expected to see the floor tonight. He’s dealing with a contusion in his knee.
That makes two consecutive games he’s missed so far, but the feeling is that he’ll be okay for the regular season.
Bucks fans will have to keep an eye on PG Brandon Knight. He’s traveling with the team during this two-game road trips over the next few days, but there’s no word as to whether or not he’ll play in tonight’s game (Minnesota) or Monday’s (New York).
The Lakers had neither Steve Nash nor Jeremy Lin yesterday against the Jazz. Lin is still getting over an ankle injury, and Nash suffered a well-publicized issue with his back while carrying luggage.
