The Minnesota Timberwolves will be hosting the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night at the Target Center.
The Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t get the start to the season they were hoping for on Wednesday night, as the T-Wolves fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 105-101. The Timberwolves made a bit of a run late to keep things interesting, but it wasn’t enough, and the Timberwolves fall to 0-1 to start the season. Minnesota was led by Thaddeus Young, who finished the night with 26 points against the Grizzlies, with three other players, including Rubio picking up double digit points on the night as well. The Grizzlies offense should be fine this season, but if Minnesota seriously wants to think playoffs, they need to get better defensively and on the boards.

The Detroit Pistons are sitting at 0-1 this season, after falling to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. The Pistons played well defensively against the Nuggets, holding Denver to just 89 points on the night, but Detroit just wasn’t able to find the basket enough in the fourth quarter, despite holding with the Nuggets through the first three periods. Detroit had three players reach double digit points on the night, with Josh Smith leding the scoring with 25.
The Timberwolves are 1-1 against the spread when facing the Pistons in the past three seasons, and in those two matchups, the Timberwolves are 2-0 overall against Detroit.
I have to go with the Timberwolves here. I do lke the looks of Detroit’s defense, I just don’t know if the Pistons have what it takes to keep up with Minnesota. Also, the Pistons are coming off a letdown on the road last night, and now have to travel again. Fatigue likely won’t be that big of an issue this early on, but traveling after a “bummer” of a game last night may take it’s toll here.
