The Phoenix Suns will be hoping to take down the defending champs tonight when they host the San Antonio Spurs.
You always want to kick off your season with an easy win to get everyone going and they got a gift in the shorthanded Lakers on Wednesday. Marcus Morris scored 21 points while Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe scored 18 and 16 points respectively, but the icing on the cake was Isaiah Thomas who scored 23 points in just 20 minutes off the bench in his debut game for the Suns. It's hard to get too excited about beating this bad Lakers team, but the new three-guard rotation looks absolutely lethal so far.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs had all the distractions of an emotional ring ceremony to deal with just before tipoff and it may have affected them early in the game. However, the Spurs were able to regroup at halftime and make their run in the second half thanks to big games from the usual suspects. Tim Duncan double-doubled, Manu Ginobili scored 20 points and six assists off the bench while Tony Parker led the way with 23 points, including a clutch three pointer to win the game. Kawhi Leonard missed the game with an eye infection and is expected to miss at least another two weeks.
In ATS trends, the Spurs are 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Phoenix, while the Over is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings overall and 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Phoenix.
Both of these squads look to have picked from where they left off last season so this game should be a close one. I was really impressed with the way the Spurs got out of jail against the Mavericks in their season opener but I'm still taking the Suns with the home court advantage.
