The Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers play Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Houston Rockets are undefeated and will play already their third road game of the season. Surprisingly, it’s been the Rockets defense that has been getting the job done early on, as Houston is allowing 91 points on 39.9 percent shooting from the field. Of course, defense wasn’t a strong point for the Rockets last season, but they have won 13 straight regular season games when allowing 100 or less points. Offensively, James Harden leads the Rockets with 25.3 points and 7.3 assists, while Terrence Jones is averaging 16.7 points on 59.5 percent shooting. Dwight Howard, who is the Rockets leading rebounder with 9.7 boards, is questionable for this matchup with a knee injury. Patrick Beverley is also questionable for this game with an injured hamstring. Overall, the Houston Rockets have gotten off to an impressive start on both sides of the court.

While the Philadelphia 76ers have yet to win a game this season, they have been a lot more competitive than they were a year ago. The 76ers have lost two of their three games by less than 15 points, and that’s with some of their more promising players still on the injury list. Tony Wroten leads the 76ers with 19 points per game and 7.7 assists, while Hollis Thompson has chipped in 10 points on 38.5 percent shooting from downtown. Nerlens Noel, who is one of the 76ers building blocks, is averaging 7.3 points and 8.3 rebounds. The 76ers are still searching for more consistency on the offensive end and will take it however they can get it. Defensively, the Philadelphia 76ers are allowing 103.3 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field.
The Rockets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The 76ers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 1 days rest and 9-24 ATS in their last 33 home games. The Rockets are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia, while the home team is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings.
I have a feeling the Rockets are going to be looking ahead to the Miami Heat on Tuesday night. Like I said, the 76ers are still brutal but have been playing better basketball than a year ago. I'll take the points here as this is a bit of a trap game for Houston with a big game coming up tomorrow.
