The Charlotte Hornets will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday night as the Hornets will play host to the Miami Heat.
The Charlotte Hornets are struggling in this young NBA season, as the Hornets are just 1-3 on the year. Charlotte has now dropped three straight following their loss to the Pelicans on Tuesday night, 100-91. The Hornets were led by Al Jefferson against the Pelicans. Jefferson finished the night with 20 points, one of just three Hornets who finished the game against the Pelicans in double digit points. I like the way this team has played defensively, and on the boards, but this is a tough matchup for them, having faced a physical New Orleans team, and now hosting the Heat.

The Miami Heat are out to prove to the basketball world that they can win without James in town. The Heat are currently sitting at 3-1 this season, having started the season 3-0, before suffering their first loss on Tuesday night against the Rockets in Miami, 108-91. Chris Bosh led the scoring for Miami against the Rockets, putting up 21, while Wade scored 19. Even with James there, Miami has sometimes started the season off slow, especially defensively, and it will be interesting to watch this time around whether or not the Heat follow that same pattern.
The trends here may be a bit skewed a bit as these teams aren’t what they were the past few seasons, but still I’ll list a few. MIami is 6-0 against the spread in their last six games against Charlotte, in Charlotte, and the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.
I'm going to take the Hornets here. Miami is coming off a tough loss to the Rockets, which makes this a prime letdown spot for the Heat. All things being equal, I feel Miami is the better team, but it's closer than some might think right now, and only giving up a bucket to an unmotivated Miami team with this defense looks like the side to me.
