The Oklahoma City Thunder will be hosting the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a rough start this season, sitting at 1-4 on the season and coming off a loss to the Raptors on Tuesday, 100-88. The Thunder have had plenty of time to rest up and prepare for the Grizzlies, and the way things are going for Denver right now, this has to a be a good thing. Obviously the Thunder’s injury list reads like a novel right now, and with their stars not coming back for awhile, this team will need to try and find some momentum with who they’ve got on the court. Serge Ibaka played well against the Raptors on Tuesday, finishing the night with 25 points and 11 boards.
USA TODAY Sports
The Memphis Grizzlies are red hot at this point, starting their season 5-0. The Grizzlies’ last outing was on Wednesday night, where Memphis defeated the Phoenix Suns 102-91 in Phoenix. The Grizzlies have the top ranked scoring defense in the league right now, and even though the season is young, this is a good sign for the future, with a team that has prided themselves on defensive play for awhile now. If the Grizzlies keep up this defensive play, and continue to get strong offensive outings from Gasol and company, Memphis will continue to be a tough out.
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams, and the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the Grizzlies and OKC in Oklahoma City.
I have to take Oklahoma City in this spot. The Thunder sure haven’t impressed anyone this season, but I think the Thunder matchup well with the Grizzlies, and getting better than three buckets at OKC is hard to pass up.
