The Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers play Sunday night at the Moda Center.
The Denver Nuggets have lost four straight games and are struggling mightily on the defensive end. The Nuggets are allowing 106.4 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting from the field. The Denver Nuggets have lost six straight regular season games when allowing 100-plus points. Offensively, the Nuggets are shooting just 41.9 percent from the field. Randy Foye leads Denver with 12.8 points per game, and Kenneth Faried is averaging 10.2 points and nine rebounds. Danilo Gallinari, who provides one of the sparks offensively for the Nuggets, is just 3-11 from downtown in his last three games. With the struggles at both ends of the floor, the Nuggets can only hope point guard Ty Lawson is ready to return, as he’s questionable with an ankle injury and missed the team’s last game.
USA TODAY Sports
The Portland Trail Blazers return home after losing Saturday to the Los Angeles Clippers despite shooting 45 percent from the field. The Trail Blazers starting five is one of the better units in the league but their lack of consistent bench is an issue. In the loss to the Clippers, Portland’s bench scored just 13 points and had six turnovers. Overall, LaMarcus Aldridge leads the way with 22.2 points per game, and Damian Lillard has 43 points and 14 assists in his last two games. Wesley Matthews has really stepped his game up, knocking down at least two threes in his last four games. Defensively, the Portland Trail Blazers are allowing 91.2 points per game on 40 percent shooting from the field. The Trail Blazers have split their last 10 regular season games when allowing 100 or more points.
The Nuggets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Northwest. The Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 vs. Western Conference. The Nuggets are 2-5-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings, while the road team is 6-0-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
The Portland Trail Blazers are tough to beat at home and Denver simply isn't getting the job done on the offensive end. Give me the Trail Blazers by double digits.
