The Houston Rockets hope to have Dwight Howard back tonight when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Houston Rockets will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season after the Warriors beat them by 98-87 on Saturday. Despite playing without Dwight Howard who sat out with injury, the Rockets did well to lead by 56-48 at halftime before getting absolute demolished in the second half by 50-31. Isaiah Canaan had a nice game of 21 points while starting for Patrick Beverley and Donatas Motiejunas added 16, but James Harden and Trevor Ariza combined for 11 of 40 shooting which really dragged the team's shooting to 34.9 percent. At the end of the day, it was always going to be tough trying to beat the Warriors without Howard so that loss doesn't mean too much except that it ruined their perfect 6-0 start to the season.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves are just 2-4 on the season so far and are coming off a 102-92 loss against the Heat. Nikola Pekovic had a nice double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds while four other players finished in double figures in scoring, but the Wolves lost the first quarter 29-13 and were never able to get to tie the game. With Ricky Rubio out indefinitely with his ankle injury, the Wolves inserted Zach LaVine into the starting lineup and he didn't look too bad at all except for his mediocre final stats of just five points and four assists. It was very interesting to see LaVine win the starting gig over Mo Williams, but it remains to be seen if this is a long-term move.
In ATS trends, the Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall, while the Wolves are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games playing on three or more days rest.
Head to head, the Rockets are 17-8-1 ATS in hte last 26 meetings overall and a dominant 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Minnesota.
Plain and simple, I'm all over the Rockets to win by double digits if Howard starts.
