The red-hot Dallas Mavericks roll into town to take on the Charlotte Hornets tonight.
The Dallas Mavericks have started the season 7-3 and are now going for a fourth straight win after making light work of the Timberwolves on Saturday. Monta Ellis led the way with a season-high 30 points while Dirk Nowitzki had just 15, but neither of those players needed to play a minute in the second half with the Mavericks leading by 63-44 going into the halftime break. A total of eight players finished in double digits in scoring for the Mavs on Saturday as coach Carlisle was able to try out any lineup he wanted as the Mavs cruised to a 131-117 win. Dallas is now ranked first in the league an average of 109.5 points per game and they are 5-1 at home.

Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets are returning from a horrid four-game road trip, where they lost three games, including a 112-87 rout against the Warriors on Saturday. Al Jefferson had 19 points and Lance Stephenson added 16, but this game was over before it really began as the Warriors got hot early and jumped out to a 67-46 lead going into halftime. As bad as the Hornets were in Saturday's loss against the Warriors, I still can't wipe from my memory how bad they were last week in their loss against the Lakers. Fortunately, now they get to return home where they've actually won three of four this season, including a double overtime victory over the Hawks in their last outing.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points, while the Hornets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points and 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 home games.
Head to head, the Mavs are only 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall but a dominant 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Charlotte.
There's no doubt that the Hornets are a much better team at home but it's just too hard to go against the Mavs in the form that they're in.
