The Portland Traiblazers invade the Pepsi Center to battle the Denver Nuggets tonight.
The Portland Trailblazers have really hit the ground running with 13 wins in the first 17 outings and they'll be looking to keep that winning momentum from their 107-93 win against the Timberwolves on Sunday. LaMarcus Aldridge led the scoring with 26 points on 11 of 17 shots including 15 rebounds, while Wesley Matthews made six threes on his way to 23 points as the Blazers led by double digits heading into the fourth quarter before holding off a late rally from the pesky Wolves. Despite the big numbers, it wasn't exactly the most clinical performance, but the Blazers aren't complaining after getting thumped by the Grizzlies at home just a couple nights earlier.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have also been in a rich vein of form, winning seven of their last nine and are coming into this one off a 103-101 win over the Jazz last night. In a balanced scoring night, seven players finished in double digits with Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler leading the way with 15 points apiece, but this game really shouldn't have been close at all as the Nuggets were up by as many as 22 points before allowing the Jazz to come all the way back in a dramatic finish that included the ejection of Arron Afflalo for a flagrant foul. At the end of the day, the Nuggets were still good enough to sneak away with the win so they improved to 9-8 overall and 4-5 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall, while the Nuggets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the Blazers are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Denver and 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
Both of these teams have been in strong form but I'm definitely preferring the Blazers over the Nuggets in this one, especially after I saw how shaky they were in their win over the young Jazz last night.
