NBA Player Updates 12/18: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
December 18, 2014
We had a pretty heavy evening of NBA action last night, and the league will be dialing it back a bit tonight. There are just four games on the schedule, but we’ve got at least a couple of good matchups mixed in there. While we’re waiting on game time, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there.
Cavaliers-Hawks: Atlanta came back after getting outscored by eight in the first quarter against Cleveland last night, all the way to a surprising blowout of the home team. Shelvin Mack posted a career-high 24 points in the 127-98 victory, giving the Hawks their 11th win in 12 games.
Atlanta was down 50-38 in the middle of the second quarter in this one, but rode an 89-48 advantage the rest of the way.

Celtics-Magic: Rajon Rondo led the Celtics in an all-around team effort last night against the Magic. He posted 13 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds in the 109-92 victory, with 18 from Brandon Bass and 16 each from Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger.
Down the stretch was where Boston really excelled here. The team hit 13 of their last 19 shots in the fourth.
On the other side, Nikola Vucevic led Orlando with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Grizzlies-Spurs: Both teams refused to quit in this one, and it took triple overtime to find a winner. The Grizzlies edged out San Antonio in Texas by a margin of 117-116, barely edging out defeat at several points.
Marc Gasol posted 26 points here, banking in a three as time wound down in the fourth. The Grizzlies had a 23-point lead at one point and blew it, but were able to finish off the defending champs. It was their first win in San Antonio since 2011.
Rockets-Nuggets: In yesterday’s other overtime affair, the Rockets took care of the Nuggets by a score of 115-111. James Harden posted 41 points all together in this one, including eight in the extra time.
Dwight Howard had a big game as well, scoring 24 and adding 16 rebounds. He was questionable to even play before the game, due to his strained knee.
On the other side, Wilson Chandler managed 23 points while Ty Lawson put up 16 assists.
