The San Antonio Spurs visit the New Orleans Pelicans for a post-Christmas battle tonight.
The San Antonio Spurs have lost five of their last six overall and were beaten by the Thunder 114-106 last night at home. Seven players finished in double digits in scoring, including Matt Bonner who had 17 points and Tim Duncan who had 15, but while the Spurs kept the game close for three quarters, there was just no stopping Russell Westbrook who ran riot in the fourth quarter and finished with a game-high 34 points. As a team, the Spurs just committed too many turnovers, allowed too many offensive rebounds and sent gave away too many free throws which cost them big in the end. The Spurs have been nowhere near their best lately which has caused them to drop to 18-12 overall and 9-5 at home.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have won three of their last five overall but are coming off a 96-84 loss against the Pacers. Anthony Davis had 21 points, Jrue Holiday had 16 while Tyreke Evans added 14, but the bottom line was that the Pelicans got outhustled on both sides of the floor. All season, they've been hot and cold so it's not that surprising that they lost to Pacers, because they'll probably beat the Spurs by 20 now. With the loss, New Orleans drops back to .500 at 14-14 overall and 6-10 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Spurs are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record, while the Pelicans are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the Spurs are just 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in New Orleans and the Home team is 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall.
This would usually be an auto-pick on the Spurs in this one, but they've been struggling big time and all the trends are suggesting the Pelicans will take this one, so that's where I'm leaning.
