NBA Player Updates 12/30: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
December 30, 2014
We’ve got a busy evening in store for us, NBA fans. There are 10 matchups to look forward to in the coming hours, and that means there’s lots to talk about in the hours leading up to tip-off. That said, let’s check out some of the notable happenings out there and see who’s making news.
Bulls-Pacers: Games between Chicago and Indiana are always pretty good, and this one was no different. Jimmy Butler posted 27 points and nine rebounds in another great performance to lead his team to a win 92-90 last night, nailing a key 3-pointer that helped put the game away.
Pau Gasol put up 20 points of his own, while Derrick Rose managed 17. The Bulls are now 22-9 and have a nice seven-game winning streak going. Meanwhile, Indiana falls to 11-21.

Nets-Kings: The Nets have a couple of impressive young players putting up nice stats lately. Mason Plumlee led the way against the Kings last night, posting 20 points in the 107-99 victory. Jarrett Jack managed 16 of his own.
Brook Lopez and Deron Williams came off the bench in this one, as both players are recovering from injuries.
Plumlee has started the last 11 games at the center spot, averaging 16.2 PPG and 9.6 RPG in that time.
Magic-Heat: Orlando hadn’t done too well against the Heat heading into last night’s game in Miami. They were on a 10-game skid against the defending East champs.
That all changed with a 102-101 Orlando victory, helped out by Nikola Vucevic’s 26 points (leading all scorers).
Dwyane Wade had 25 points on the other side--with 15 of those coming in the fourth--but missed a jumpshot at the end that would have stolen the win.
Miami is now 6-12 on the year at home.
Wizards-Rockets: Bradley Beal was huge in holding off the Rockets’ push down the stretch last night in Houston. He put up a season-high 33 points in the 104-103 victory, with six key free throws coming in the final two minutes. He was also 5-of-9 from 3-point range.
Paul Pierce posted 21 points while John Wall doubled up on 13 points and 12 assists. It was Washington’s third straight victory.
The Wizards are now 22-8, matching the franchise’s best start in history, dating back to 1974-5.
