The New Orleans Pelicans invade the AT&T Center to challenge the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
The New Orleans Pelicans have won five of their last eight games overall and are heading into this one fresh off a 110-106 win against the Suns last night. Tyreke Evans led the scoring with 24 points, Jrue Holiday added 21 while Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson added 19 points apiece as the Pelicans battled with the Suns for three quarters before pulling away late. New Orleans has been anything but a consistent team on a nightly basis, but they continue to show improvement and are definitely looking like a team to look out for in the near future.

Meanwhile, over the years we've gotten accustomed to seeing the San Antonio Spurs cruise past opponents through the regular season, but lately they've been struggling mightily and have lost seven of their last nine games including a 95-87 defeat at Memphis last night. Cory Joseph and Marco Belinelli led the team with 18 points each while Patty Mills added 10 points in his second game back from surgery, but no other Spurs player even finished in double figures in a real disappointing effort. Sure, there really is no shame in losing to the Grizzlies this season, but the Spurs really haven't looked like themselves lately and I can't remember the last time I've seen them in such a slump. With the loss, SA is now 19-14 on the season and 9-9 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall, while the San Antonio is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall but just 5-12 ATS in the last 17 meetings in San Antonio.
I really wanted to take the Pelicans in this one, but the bookies are giving just 5.5 points so I'm actually switching and taking the Spurs to win and cover the spread at home, despite their recent struggles.
