The Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets square off Monday night at the Barclays Center.
The Dallas Mavericks have won five straight games and will end a three-game road trip. On the season, the Mavs are averaging 109.9 points on 47.8 percent shooting and are allowing 102.6 points on 45.3 percent shooting. Monta Ellis is averaging 20.7 points and 4.5 assists while Dirk Nowitzki is averaging 18.6 points and 5.9 rebounds. Chandler Parsons is shooting 45.8 percent from the field and Rajon Rondo is dishing out 7.4 assists. As usual, the Dallas Mavericks are getting the job done on the offensive end as they’ve topped 100 points in seven straight games and are shooting 38.8 percent from downtown in their last five games. As long as the Mavs continue to score at a high percentage, they’re going to be a tough team to beat.
USA TODAY Sports
The Brooklyn Nets have won six of their last eight games and play their first home game of 2015. On the season, the Nets are averaging 96.9 points on 45 percent shooting and are allowing 98.6 points on 44.5 percent shooting. Joe Johnson is averaging 16.5 points and 3.9 assists while Brook Lopez is averaging 14.9 points and 5.8 rebounds. Deron Williams is dishing out 6.4 assists and Jarrett Jack is shooting 45.8 percent from the field. The Brooklyn Nets are playing their best basketball of the season and it starts with an offense that’s shooting 46.1 percent from the field in their last five games. However, the Nets are coming off a bad Sunday road loss to the Miami Heat, so it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 0 days rest. The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Western Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The road team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings.
The Nets showed Sunday that they still have major flaws and aren't quite turning the corner. Meanwhile, the Mavs are shooting lights out from the field and continue to produce win after win and cover after cover. I like the Mavericks on the road to cover the reasonable number.
