The Brooklyn Nets look to climb towards .500 as they host the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Philadelphia 76ers are 5-29 on the year but they only enter this contest with a one game losing streak. The Sixers defeated the hobbled Cavaliers this past Monday but fell to the Bucks by twenty points (97-77) in their last outing. Failing to score sufficient points remains a familiar theme for the beleaguered Sixers who average just 90.5 points per game to rank last in the league. The Sixers may find an edge in this matchup is in the backcourt with the energetic contributions of Tony Wroten and Michael Carter-Williams. With Deron Williams out, Philly might actually find it wise to gamble with double teaming ball handlers and generate transition opportunities. The Sixers are 4-14 on the road this season.

The Brooklyn Nets have lost three straight games after winning three straight prior to sit at 16-19 on the year. The Nets don’t have an edge at home with an 8-10 record, and they’re also missing PG Deron Williams indefinitely with a rib injury. Even without their starting point guard, the Nets have to believe that Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson and Kevin Garnett will generate sufficient offense against a porous Sixers defense. Brooklyn also has to believe that their bench will have the edge over the disjointed rotations and substitutions of the young visitors. It wasn’t long ago we thought Nets PG Jarrett Jack was good enough to direct a playoff offense for the Warriors so don’t be surprised to see this as a step-up game to right the ship against the most beatable foe imaginable.
The Sixers struggle to score but I’m not convinced they’ll run into much defensive resistance in this contest. The Nets should have little problem creating offense as well. I’ll take a chance with the over.
