The Orlando Magic invade the Staples Center to battle the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Orlando Magic have lost nine of their last 12 overall and are coming off a fourth straight loss, falling to the Nuggets by 93-90 on Wednesday. Nikola Vucevic had a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Victor Oladipo added 17 points of his own, but late in the game with the team down by three, the ball went to the former Nugget, Evan Fournier who missed at the buzzer. The loss marks the Magic's sixth straight defeat in Denver which drops the team to 13-25 overall and 9-13 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost nine of their last 12 overall and are coming off an ugly 114-89 beatdown at the hands of the Clippers. Kobe Bryant scored just four points with seven assists as the Lakers fell behind by 22 points at halftime and 36 points after three quarters in a completely one-sided affair. Prior to this game, the Lakers showed plenty of fight in a 98-94 loss to the Blazers but the Clippers were just ruthless in this one and could have easily won by 40 points if they wanted to.
In ATS trends, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games, while the Lakers are 2-0-2 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Looking at the Lakers' upcoming schedule, this looks like their best chance of getting a win for a long while so I think they'll get it done tonight. I'm definitely not too happy about taking them as favorites, but you can't ignore that they've been much more competitive lately (excluding their last outing).
