NBA Player Updates 1/13: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
January 13, 2015
We had just four games in the NBA last night, but things are ramping up a bit this evening. There are seven matchups on the schedule, but before we get into those let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the headlines today. Here’s the latest.
Pelicans-Celtics: Marcus Smart nailed a key 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the Celtics’ 108-100 victory over the Pelicans yesterday, giving Boston a solid home win over an up-and-coming team.
Jared Sullinger aided the cause with 27 points and 10 rebounds while Jae Crowder would add 22 of his own. It was the Celtics’ third win in their last 12 games.

Rockets-Nets: The big story on this night was a tussle between the Nets’ Kevin Garnett and the Rockets’ Dwight Howard. Garnett was ejected after the first-quarter brawl, in which he head-butted Howard and threw the ball at him.
Perhaps as an aside, the Rockets ended up winning 113-99 on James Harden’s 30 points. Houston nailed 16 of 40 3-point attempts which negated their need for an inside game.
Pistons-Raptors: Thanks to a huge effort from Brandon Jennings, the Pistons were able to extract a bit of revenge on the Raptors in Toronto. Jennings put up 34 points and 10 assists in the 114-111 Detroit win, while Greg Monroe added 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Pistons have now won nine of their last 10, and they stop a four-game losing streak against Toronto.
Magic-Bulls: Magic fans should be really pleased with this one. Orlando really needed a win heading into Chicago last night, and they got one in a high-flying performance. The Magic shot 59 percent in the 121-114 victory over the Bulls, which is a season-high. It was the Magic’s first win in Chicago since December of 2013.
Nikola Vucevic had a heavy hand in getting Orlando to 14-27, putting up 33 points.
The Bulls fall to 26-13 with the loss.
