The Denver Nuggets host the Boston Celtics in a matchup of teams from opposite conferences.
The Boston Celtics picked up an impressive road win last night in Portland, winning 90-89 on an Evan Turner three pointer with just 1.9 seconds left in the game. The win snapped a three game skid for the Celtics, who now sit at 14-26 with a 5-13 record away from home. The Celtics are obviously weaker at point guard now without Rajon Rondo, but Avery Bradley is at least assuming some of the scoring duties even if he’s failing to spread the ball around like Rondo did. The Celtics bench got plenty of work last night, which could come into play here with the Nuggets running the floor in the altitude. Unfortunately backup PG Marcus Smart might not be the best candidate to orchestrate the offense, coming off an 0-5 night with just two assists in 27 minutes. Defensively, the Celtics rank 26th in the league allowing 103.8 points per game.

The Denver Nuggets are hanging around on the border of relevancy with an 18-24 record and 12-10 mark at home. The Nuggets have been a streaky team of late, entering this contest on a four game skid after having won five in a row prior. Despite losing last time out, the efforts of Kenneth Faried were strongly encouraging, as the forward scored 26 points and hauled in 14 rebounds in the team’s most recent loss to the Spurs. Denver will likely need a big performance from the backcourt of Ty Lawson and Aaron Afflalo to bounce back here, with Afflalo coming off a 21 point outing last game. Ty Lawson is averaging ten assists per game and will look to manage an up-tempo attack in this contest. The Nuggets like to run the floor which explains their 27th ranked defense which allows 104.4 points per game.
The Celtics cashed as an underdog on the moneyline last night for a nice price but don’t expect a repeat as I see the home team feasting here. Denver is a terrible venue for a back-to-back game.
